For this task, we had to take a song called 'Hurt' and create a plan for a music video which would suit the lyrics of the song, provided with a specific genre.

Priscilla and I were gievn the genre of R&B, so we worked together to create a music video that would most likely performed by Jhene Aiko. The reason we chose Jhene Aiko is because the lyrics of the song resemble pain, loss, and sorrow, a strong theme in Jhene's songs. We noticed that her target audience is young females and that she makes music that is relatable and can encourage them, teaching them to learn from your mistakes.

We thought to use a wide range of cinematography, various camera shots, angles, and movements. These could be utilized in a way that can create a type of atmosphere. For mise-en-scene, we looked at costumes and decided on casual clothing and, for the main character, rags - signifies pain and loss. Make-up: ruined mascara (suggests crying). Low-key lighting and dim tinted colours to create a gloomy mood/atmosphere. Editing could include cross-cuts to show simultaneuous events in the story, and fade outs as flashbacks could be used to show previous events. Performance would me minimal as the narrative of the video would be more of a story-driven sequence.
